What Materials can our CNC Laser Table Cut?

Many of our metal cutting projects use mild steel or stainless steel, but we can work with a variety of metal materials, including reflective metals like aluminum.

Our laser cutting capabilities include materials up to the following thicknesses:

  • 1-inch mild steel
  • 1/2-inch stainless steel
  • 1/2-inch aluminum
  • 10-millimeter brass
  • 6-millimeter copper

What size is the laser table?

Our metal shop uses a 5-foot by 10-foot CNC laser table (60 inches by 120 inches) We can cut parts and pieces up to the following maximum dimensions:

  • 59.75 inches by 119.75 inches
 

The reason our maximum cut dimensions are a quarter-inch smaller than the table dimensions is to prevent cutting along the mill edge (the edge of the metal sheet) to provide precise, accurate cuts that meet the part or project’s specifications. 

What file types can be used?

The ideal file type for a laser cutting job is a DXF (Drawing Exchange Format) cut file. However, we can also use high-quality image files like JPEG or PDF, which we can import into our CAD software.

Our metal fabricators can also draw the cut file for your project based on an image file or even a hand-drawn sketch. They’ll work closely with you to bring your vision to life.
